Frank Lamphere sings Fly Me To the Moon from his Frank Sinatra tribute album "Frank Songs, My Way"
Fly Me To the Moon - Frank Lamphere. Frank Songs, My Way album
Fly Me To the Moon
Fly Me To the Moon is arguably the most iconic of all the Sinatra recordings. So much so, Lamphere thought it would be crazy to even get "near" the Quincy Jones arrangement.
When the song came out in the early 1950s it was entitled In Other Words and it was a waltz. Lamphere reverted the song back, to a jazz waltz. Total different mood! This was take four, after the Frank's dramatic first chorus, saxman Eric Schneider (playing alto) and pianist Jeremy Kahn each have memorable solos. The band is really "smoking" on the dramatically different Lamphere take, of Fly Me To The Moon
