Frank Lamphere sings "I'd Like to Come Back to You"

I'd Like to Come Back to You written and performed by Frank Lamphere tells of an American soldier's (stationed in Vietnam, circa 1967) desire to return to his sweetheart, after his tour of duty is completed.

A gritty and realistic pop-rock arrangement is achieved as Lamphere replicates the popular sound of that era.

This song was included in Frank Lamphere's album Now THAT'S Amore in 2023

I’d Like to Come Back to You

When I left that day, my doubts all went away

I realized you were my dream-come-true

I must have been blind

Cause all that’s on my mind is

I’d Like to Come Back to You!

It’s not that I was shy, that day we said goodbye

There were things, that were blocking my view

Now I’m in Vietnam

You may not give-a-damn but

I’d Like to Come Back to You!

I’ve gone away and for one year I’ll stay

To do my part, for the Red, White and Blue

 Grenades and gun in hand,

no cheers, no marching band

We move out, when our orders come through…

 These patrols can be rough,

 The napalm fills the air

I’ll be glad when this war is all through!

Then do whatever I can

To show you “I’m your man”

I’d Like to Come Back to You!
